Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, Amy Thurmond was a young protege to her artist grandmother and continued studying art throughout high-school.

She received her BFA degree from Washington University's School of Fine Arts. Amy traveled for ten years back and forth from the United States to Virgin Gorda, a tiny island in the British Virgin Islands, to paint and visit friends, until finally making it her permanent home in 1993.

Her oil paintings are represented by galleries in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as Colorado and Florida. She is a member of the St. Thomas-St. John Arts Council and enters work in the Annual Caribbean Colour Fine Art Exhibition.

Signed, limited edition prints of her paintings, (including "The Princess and Her Castle" series), are available throughout the Caribbean and the United States.

Her "Sand Frames" are made from the sand, shells, coral and rocks she finds while walking the beautiful beaches of the islands.
